SCP Foundation (Special Containment Procedures - "Особые Условия Содержания") is a secret organization tasked with containing and studying anomalous objects. It possesses the necessary authority from most major governments on Earth. Uncontained SCP objects often pose a threat to humanity and the world. The Foundation keeps its existence a secret to prevent mass panic and associated chaos, allowing human civilization to function normally. When a new anomaly is discovered, the Organization dispatches one of its mobile task forces to capture and transport the anomalous object to an appropriate Foundation site or contain it on-site if transportation is not feasible. Captured SCP objects undergo thorough examination. Inmates acquired by the Organization, primarily death row convicts, are designated as Class D personnel and used as expendable resources for interacting with SCP objects. "SCP Foundation" is a collaborative web-based project primarily consisting of articles written in the style of structured internal documentation on contained anomalous objects, including instructions for their safe containment. The project also features numerous full-fledged fictional stories within the Foundation universe. The project gained recognition for its ability to convey horror through a scientific and academic writing style, as well as its high quality standards. There are many works inspired by the SCP Foundation, including the video game SCP - Containment Breach.
